On the 27th of May the conference “Meat Animal Breeding of Ukraine 2010” took place in Kyiv, Ukraine. Sponsored by BIOMIN Ukraine, the discussions touched upon the important issues on the animal breeding of Ukraine and governmental programs for animal breeding support. Among the speakers there were Sergey Melnik - the Minister‘s of Agrarian policy first deputy, who spoke about the national animal breeding policy and strategies of development and governmental support. Jean Jacques Herve – the agricultural advisor of INDEXBANK, Crédit Agricole Group presented a report on the financial issues of the Ukrainian agrarian sector. Sergiy Melnichuyuk – Director of the Ukrainian laboratory of Quality and Safety of Consumer Products spoke about the agricultural state policy and quality control legislation. The audience’s attention was drawn to the speech of Vitaliy Lokhov (COO, BIOMIN Ukraine) who addressed the issue of animal breeding profitability and the application of innovative feeding technologies. “Animal breeding is a profitable business, although it is a risky one. That’s why it is very important to make the right decisions for the crucial questions: genetics, feeding and housing of animals. The development of efficient feeding strategies and their implementation is a major goal of our work.
